Dear Edgeboro Family & Friends,

I want to share something with you that we talked about at our most recent Joint Board meeting.

To begin the Joint Board’s time together, I planned a simple time of prayer which consisted of two questions followed by a time to share other prayer concerns and a closing prayer by me. The first question was, “In one word or phrase, how do you arrive today?”, which is always a good question to use in order to check in with yourself, but it’s the second question and the responses that I wanted to share.

The second question I asked the Joint Board was, “What is one personal Edgeboro memory you have that makes you proud to be a member of Edgeboro?”

Sometimes questions like these can require some time for us to think of adequate responses, but in this case, they came right to the surface. One by one each of us around the table and online responded.

Some great stories were shared of how we were first welcomed when they came to Edgeboro, or how we witnessed Edgeboro step up in a time of need, or the love that grew after seeing our family members learn and grow and be accepted by others, or the joy that Edgeboro’s ministry of music brings to us.

After everyone had shared, we reflected on the responses for a moment and realized that all of our responses could be summed up with a few key words: Teaching, Welcoming, Responding, Music, and Community. (Would you agree that these words resonate with Edgeboro?) In the moment, we believed that listening to these important stories helped us tap into parts of Edgeboro’s purpose for existing – or at least our reasons for being a part of this community, which made for an excellent environment for establishing Joint Board goals for this year.

But now in this moment, I’m interested in what you think.

What is one personal Edgeboro memory you have that makes you proud to be a member/friend of Edgeboro?

As we enter the season of Lent, the season of repentance and recommitment, I would encourage you to think about that question because it might remind you of why you joined this church, and ultimately, why you chose to commit to following Christ in the first place. I pray that it will give you that Lenten recalibration toward Christ that we all aim for during the season.

One last thing: If you are willing to share your response to that question, I would be more than happy to hear about it!

Committing and Recommitting with you,
Pastor Dan
