Dear Edgeboro Family & Friends,

The official start of the summer season is less than a month away, and that means school years will be ending across the board. So I wanted to take a moment to extend some gratitude and congratulations. After I do that, I will change subjects in order to introduce an upcoming event.

To all the students of our congregation – pre-school, elementary, middle school, high school, college, graduates, interns, apprentices,  etc. – Congratulations on the completion of your grade, school, or program! Thank you for your hard work and studies. Thank you for learning more about who you are and what you’re good at. Thank you for using and developing the brain, body, and gifts God gave you! Your church family is proud of you and will always pray for you.

To all teachers, aides, coaches, and school district staff – thank you for another year of your time, passion, and energy. Thank you for caring for our students far beyond what any job description might require.  Thank you for challenging and motivating them to grow. Thank you for all of your hard work in addressing the wide range of the students’ needs you encounter. Your church family is pound of you and will always pray for you.

On a slightly different note, but still on the topic of education, to the Sunday School teachers, helpers, and substitutes – thank you for your ministry. Thank you for your time you spent in class with the students and outside of class you spent thinking of activities and lesson plans. Thanks to the Christian Education Committee here at Edgeboro for another year of programming not only Sunday School classes and events, but other larger church events like the Mystery Dinner Theater and the church picnic. Your church family appreciates your ministry and will always pray for you.

Now, on to something completely different. I wanted to put an upcoming event on your radar – the Moravian Day of Service.

In 2018, the synods of the Northern and Southern Provinces established a Moravian Day of Service here in North America. The Provincial Elders’ Conferences of both provinces designated this day to be Sunday, September 15th, 2019. The idea behind this event is to have Moravians all across the continent out serving their communities all at the same time. Each church would find multiple service projects and activities that members could engage in on that day.

The Board of Elders are beginning conversations about Edgeboro’s involvement during the Moravian Day of Service. At this time, the Elders are coming up with ideas for service projects and activities that we could do in our community, taking special consideration in making sure a variety of projects are offered so everyone of all ages and abilities would be able to serve in some way.

More information about this will be coming, but in the meantime, you can do two things now: (1) Save the Date – September 15th; (2) The Elders would encourage you to think of service projects that Edgeboro could potentially offer on that day. This could be something simple like making sandwiches for the soup kitchen or making cards to give to our neighbors or a nursing home. Your ideas are welcomed! If you have an idea, please contact an Elder. A great time to tell an Elder about your ideas would be at the church picnic on June 2nd.

Thank you all for all that you do to serve in the name of Christ. I’m looking forward to all of the opportunities this summer to do the same!

Peace & Grace,
Pastor Dan
